11 Simple Homemade Hair Masks For Hair Loss

1 The Egg mask:

Egg is as good for the body as it is for the hair. It provides the much required protein to the hair which makes it strong. Sometimes due to excessive styling the texture of the hair is spoilt and becomes brittle, which results in breakage of the hair either in the middle or at the roots.

The Egg mask has to be beaten well and applied evenly on hair and scalp, leave it for 15 – 20 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo to get rid of the smell.

2 The Banana Mask:

Banana as a fruit is extremely beneficial for skin and hair as it contains Vitamins A, B, C and E. Banana helps prevent dandruff and gives that lost lustre back to the hair. A spoonful of honey with mashed bananas will do wonders for it, leave it on the scalp for few minutes and rinse off with warm water for desired results.

3 Curd/lime juice mask:

Curd/ lime juice is the best home remedy for dandruff, which is one of the main reason for hair fall. Curd or Lime will wash away all the dry flaky skin from scalp. A tablespoon of curd or lime juice rubbed against the scalp will restore the moisture of the skin. Let it rest for 15 -20 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Curd is a natural conditioner for hair, once washed away does not require additional conditioning.

4 Curry leaves mask:

A mixture prepared with dry and roasted curry leaves soaked in coconut oil should be applied regularly, this mixture can be stored for a month. Curry leaves give strength and lustre to the hair. It also prevents the hair from greying at an early age.

5 Cinnamon Mask:

For those of who love to colour their hair but are worried about the side effects of chemicals, cinnamon mask is perfect, it gives the hair the much deserved colour along with the nutrition that prevents the hair from becoming brittle. A spoonful of cinnamon powder, with honey and walnut paste applied once in week for 3 months would give you the desired colour.

6 Honey and almond mask:

Almond is rich in Vitamin E, which gives the hair its strength from roots. A spoonful of almond paste mixed with honey and rosewater applied for 30 minutes and rinsed with warm water and a mild conditioner improves the hair quality.

Amla (Indian Gooseberry ) mask:

Squeeze out juice from a fresh amla and apply it directly on scalp and leave it for an hour and later rinse with warm water. Amla is high on Vitamin C which naturally conditions the hair and gives it strength.  

7 Honey and milk mask:

Honey and milk are one of the best conditioners. They are often used in shampoos and conditioning products. This one can be simply made at home without any difficulty. A table spoon of honey mixed with half cup of milk has to be applied half an hour before the wash. Voila! Hair is nice and supple and full of volume and shine, It de-tangles the hair hence it becomes easy to comb resulting in no breakage.

8 Strawberry, Coconut and honey mask:

Fresh strawberry has Vitamin C and Silica which prevents bald patches and restricts hair fall. Fresh strawberry, mixed with coconut oil and a spoonful of honey should be applied for 20 minutes and then rinsed. Strawberry and coconut prevents dandruff and strengthens hair roots. It also prevents hair from splitting and gives the hair a beautiful fragrance.

9 Green tea mask:

Green tea is an antioxidant, it flushes out toxins from the body and does wonders for the skin and Similarly, It also helps the hair. A paste of green tea along with an egg applied for 20 mins will reduce the baldness and also prevents hair thinning. Rinse it with a mild shampoo and conditioner to wash away the smell. Being a natural coolant it eases pressure.

10 Aloe Vera and olive oil mask:

Aloe Vera is a good source of protein which helps in hair growth and gives shine and volume to the hair. A mask of Aloe Vera and Olive oil is the best thing the hair could get. Olive oil gives a natural glaze and shine to the hair and Aloe Vera gives it the strength. This one is the most commonly used hair mask. It is inexpensive, non-fussy, easy to use hair mask. Henna can be combined with water or green tea or lemon for use, this paste needs to be applied for at least 30 minutes and then washed off. It gives a natural colour to the hair, conditions, at the same time works like an anti-dandruff treatment, which prevents hair fall.
