DIY – Homemade Foot Soak ( Baking Soda) to Get Soft Feet with Detailed Steps & Pictures

But still it is so simple to solve it, as the foot scrubs or soaks can always fix the problem for you. Soaking your feet in the wonderful soaks can actually soften your dry skin and give a soothing effect for the feet. Check these simple steps to make your own DIY homemade foot soak.

Step 1: Set up a soothing place

Choose a place where you stay calm and away from any disturbances. Place a chair for yourself in which you feel comfortable. Just lay an absorbent towel on the floor wherever you intend to soak your feet. So that even if the water spills down from the soaking pan, the pad down can avoid the damage to your floor. You can soak your foot in your garden, backyard or bathroom etc.

Step 2: Fill the pan

 Take a large pan or a basin in which you can soak your feet. It should be large and comfortable enough to place your feet. Boil the water and fill it in a funnel and just fill the basin with two third of warm water. Do not use overly hot water as it may cause tissue damage and worsen the dryness.

Step 3: Add Epsom salt and baking soda

The Epsom salt works great for the dry skin as the solution turns hyper tonic. Use one whole cup of Epsom salt and dissolve it complete in the water. Along with Epsom salt add one tablespoon of baking soda into the water. The baking soda acts as a cleanser and an antibacterial agent. It reduces the excessive perspiration in your soles and relieves the dryness and also clearly foot odor if any.

Step 4: Use some essential oils

Add fragrances like peppermint, chamomile and fennel to give a soothing effect to your foot. Just a single drop of the essential oil is enough to a large pan. Eucalyptus oil can also be added to the pan if the outer environment is damp. You can add almond oil to the pan so that it moisturizes your skin while soaking.

Step 5: Rest your feet

Keep both your foot in the basin and allow it to rest for at least 20 minutes. Read some magazine or a nice book; listen to music when your feet get the treat. Do not place your feet after the water turns cold. Your skin feels smooth and softer once the soak is done. You can also combine a good massage to your foot to get relaxation to your tired feet. Scrape your heel using a brush so that dead cells are removed                         

Step 6: Moisturize your foot

You can pat dry your foot thoroughly after the soak. Avoid rubbing your skin with the towel as it may worsen the dryness and irritate the skin.  And moisturize the foot with a good lotion when it is still damp. Oil based or lemon based moisturizing lotion will be effective in holding moisture. Foot soaks are also a great way to get relaxed and lose any aches or inflammations in your foot.
